Director/Writer: Sama Alshaibi

Sama Alshaibi studied for an MFA from the University of Colorado in Photography, Video and Media Arts. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Photography at the University of Arizona. Alshaibi has exhibited at prominent arts and culture institutions in over twenty countries, including Darat Al Funun in Amman, Al Hoash in Jerusalem,The Bronx Museum in NYC and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver. Her works exist within major art collections, such as The Photography Institute Archive, The Getty Museum, LA, The Gorman Museum, Davis and The Khalid Shoman Collection, Amman. Alshaibi was recently invited to spend one month as an Artist – in – Residence at Light Work New York to work on a new collaborative project titled “Baghdadi Mem/War”. Alshaibi is also an accomplished video artist and filmmaker, her 19 time-based works have screened in festivals internationally, including Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece, CinemaEast Film Festival in NYC, and MidEast Cut in Copenhagen/Denmark & Helsinki/Finland.


Director/Writer: Ala' Younis

Ala’ Younis is an artist, filmmaker and curator. Born in Kuwait in 1974,Younis graduated as an architect from the university of Jordan in 1997. Younis has participated in international shows such as the Iran 3rd Biennale, Tehran (2005), the 12th Asian Art Biennale, Dhaka, Bangladesh (2006), Photocairo 4: The Long Shortcut, Cairo (2008) and Odense (2009), the Jerusalem Show, Jerusalem (2009), and Homeworks V, Beirut (2010). She has also participated in the Townhouse curatorial program (2008) and in the Young curators workshop organized by the Tate, ICF and the Sharjah Biennial. In 2005, she received the 2nd Prize for Non Egyptians at the 17th Youth Salon in Cairo and the 3rd Prize at the Annual Exhibition of the Jordanian Artists Association in Amman.


Director of Photography: Abdel Salam Akkad

Abdel Salam Akkad completed his Communications Arts degree in 1995 and has assumed several positions within the TV and film making industry since then. His positions ranged from chief lighting technician, director of photography, to producer and director. On the production side Abdelsalam worked on the following TV Shows : Rockin’ Roll (45 min music show for Future TV, Lebanon 2000), 45 minute economic and social show also for Future TV, and Street Life Stories for NBN. In addition, he worked on several documentaries including a 52 minute documentary on the 1967 Cairo treaty for Al Jazeera, a 52 minute documentary on Queen Alia of Jordan, an independent film “Hear no Evil”, a documentary for the King Hussein Center for the Handicapped, and he directed and produced a documentary on the development of trade and industry in Qatar for the Amir’s court. As a director of photography and lighting specialist, Abdelsalam worked as head of lighting for NBN from 1997 To 1998. He was a director of photography for several films and advertisements including a 52-minute documentary titled Iraq: the Untold Story for ITN and episodes of Witness for al Jazeera International.
